Mirena Insertion

The Mirena is an intrauterine contraceptive device. Mirena is a hormone- releasing system placed in your uterus to prevent pregnancy for as long as you want for up to 5 years. Mirena also treats heavy menstruation (periods) in women who choose intrauterine contraception.

Mirena needs to be fitted at a certain time of a woman’s menstruation cycle and medication needs to be taken before insertion, therefore bookings are essential.

Please call the surgery should you require additional information.
